Ancient Roman gold ring, circa 1st century AD.
This hollow gold ring (approximately 21K) is bezel-set with a garnet intaglio of a Hippocamp – a fish-tailed horse that was considered the horse of Poseidon in Greco-Roman mythology.

A circular golden Viking brooch from Hornelunde near Varde in Denmark. This brooch, decorated with wire filigree and granulation, was made by a Danish goldsmith in the last half of the tenth century.
