A Boa Island figure. Boa Island is on the North shore of Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, Ireland. Boa Island is named after Badhbh, the Celtic goddess.

View of a Corridor, 1662. Samuel van Hoogstraten (Dutch, 1627-1678). A pupil of Rembrandt, Samuel Dirksz van Hoogstraten was famed for his ‘trompe-l’oeil’ pictures, meaning ‘deceives the eye’. This arresting perspective painting by Hoogstraten is perhaps this artist’s masterpiece.
